Print a Poster on Multiple Pages

Upload your design (image or PDF) and Apunt splits it into A4, A3 or any page size you use, respecting the margin your printer cannot print and adding overlap so you can glue the pages without losing anything.

How it works

  1. Load your design: an image (JPG, PNG, WebP) or a PDF. A PDF stays vector: it does not lose quality when enlarged.
  2. Choose the size: the original, a specific width in centimetres, or “sheets wide” (the poster is adjusted to fill an exact number of pages).
  3. Choose the paper and your printer’s margin. Apunt splits the design into pages and leaves that margin free on each one.
  4. Download the PDF with one page per sheet, print it at 100% and assemble it.

Why edges get cut off: the printer margin

Almost every printer has a strip at the edge of the paper where it cannot print, typically 3 to 6.35 mm (¼ inch) and sometimes more at the bottom. If the design reaches the edge of the page, that strip is lost and when you join the pages there is a white gap or a missing piece.

This tool subtracts that margin from every page before splitting the design, so nothing falls outside. Not sure what your printer’s margin is? Download the test sheet, print it at 100% and see which frame gets cut off.

More control: grid, single sheets and ZIP

  • Grid: choose how many sheets wide and high you want and how the design is placed: cover (fills every sheet and crops the excess, without shrinking it), contain (whole design, with blank bands) or stretch (changes the proportions). You can align it and shift it in millimetres.
  • Only some sheets: type, for example, 1, 3-5, B2 or A1-B3 to print only those sheets (in case one jammed).
  • Output: a single PDF or a ZIP with one PDF per sheet and a print list. Optionally, cut lines on the margins.

Overlap and assembly

Each page overlaps the next (10 mm by default) so you can glue them without gaps. To assemble:

  • Trim the white margin on the left and top of each page (except the first column and the first row).
  • Place each page over the previous one, matching the alignment crosses in the overlap strip.
  • Glue on the back with tape or glue, row by row, following the labels (A1, A2, B1…). You can optionally add an assembly map page.

Quality and printing tips

  • Always print at 100% (“Actual size”). If you choose “Fit to page”, the pages shrink and won’t line up.
  • For images, the tool shows the effective dpi: below 75 dpi it will look pixelated up close; from 150 dpi it looks good.
  • Test with a single page first to check nothing is cut off.
  • Your design is not uploaded to any server: everything is calculated in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

How many pages do I need for my poster?

The tool tells you instantly. Keep in mind each page loses the printer margin and the overlap, so a design two A3 pages wide usually needs more than two. If you prefer an exact number of pages, choose “Sheets wide”: the poster is reduced just enough to fit.

Which margin should I choose?

The one your printer cannot print. It is usually between 3 and 6.35 mm. Download the test sheet, print it at 100% and look for the smallest frame that prints completely on all four sides.

Does my PDF lose quality?

No. PDFs stay vector: text and drawings look sharp at any size. Images depend on their resolution, and the tool warns you if it is low.

Can I use A3, Letter or another paper size?

Yes: A5, A4, A3, A2, A1, Letter, Legal, Tabloid or a custom size, in portrait, landscape or automatic (whichever needs fewer pages).

Can I print just one sheet that came out wrong?

Yes. Under “Sheets to print” type its number or label (for example 7 or B2; ranges like 3-5 or A1-B3 work too) and the PDF will contain only those sheets, in the same position and numbering as in the full poster.

Is my design uploaded to a server?

No. The design is processed in your browser and never leaves your computer.
